It doesn't have to be perfect.

Sometimes creating is about the result.
Sometimes it's simply about what happens while you're doing it.

No expectations. No need to explain what you're making.
Just colour, movement and whatever appears on the canvas.

WHY I PAINT
“I used to think I needed an idea before I could start painting.

For Mara, painting began without a plan. She simply liked the feeling of putting colour on a canvas and discovering what happened next.
Some days she knows exactly what she wants to paint. On others, one colour leads to another and the painting slowly finds its own direction.
She paints when she has something to say, but also when she doesn't have the words for it. Sometimes for hours. Sometimes for only twenty minutes.
There are paintings she loves. Others she paints over the next day.
And that's part of it too.
