8 & 9 OCTOBER — TWO DAYS, ONE VALENCIAN STORY
Valencia is a city that celebrates its stories.
Every October, two special days bring its history, traditions and people together. On the evening of 8 October, the city prepares for a celebration filled with music, light and anticipation.
On 9 October, Valencia celebrates the Day of the Valencian Community, remembering the entry of King Jaume I into the city in 1238.
But this day also carries a softer tradition. Sant Donís, often called the Valencian day of love, is celebrated with La Mocadorà — a sweet gift wrapped in a handkerchief, shared with someone special.
Two celebrations. Different stories. One beautiful Valencian tradition.

A CITY THAT REMEMBERS
Every October, Valencia celebrates something that goes far beyond a single day.
On the evening of 8 October, the city comes alive with music, lights and anticipation. Streets fill with people, traditions are shared, and the celebrations begin.
The following day, 9 October, marks the Day of the Valencian Community. It remembers the entry of King Jaume I into Valencia in 1238 — a moment that became part of the region's history and identity.
“Some celebrations are not simply about remembering the past. They are about feeling part of something that continues today.”
For the people of Valencia, these days are filled with pride, memories and traditions passed from one generation to the next.
And for those discovering the city, they offer a beautiful opportunity to experience a little more of its soul.
SOME TRADITIONS ARE MADE TO BE SHARED.

A LITTLE SOMETHING, GIVEN WITH LOVE

A LITTLE GIFT OF LOVE
Not every Valencian tradition is celebrated with music, fireworks or crowded streets.
Some are much smaller. And perhaps even more personal.
On 9 October, Valencia also celebrates Sant Donís, a day traditionally associated with love.
For generations, people have given each other La Mocadorà: small marzipan sweets, often shaped like fruits and vegetables, carefully wrapped in a handkerchief.
A simple gesture, carrying a beautiful meaning.
Because sometimes, the smallest gifts hold the most wonderful memories.
It is a tradition that reminds us that love doesn't always need grand gestures.
Sometimes, it simply needs a little thought.
SOME TRADITIONS NEVER FADE.
Every year, Valencia celebrates its history, its people and the little traditions that bring them together.
A familiar street, a shared celebration, a small gift given with love.
Different moments, connected by the same city.

THE MOMENTS WE CARRY WITH US

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER
A celebration may last only a day.
The streets become quiet again. The music fades. The flowers are taken home.
But something remains.
Perhaps it is the memory of walking through Valencia together. A little gift exchanged on Sant Donís. Or simply the feeling of being part of a tradition that has been shared for generations.
Some moments become memories. Others become part of who we are.
And sometimes, a small object is all it takes to bring those moments back.
We like that thought.
